A 23-year-old missing hunter was located safe Thursday evening near Corner Brook, the second incident this week of a missing or lost hunter in the area.
Corner Brook RCMP, assisted by the Bay of Islands Search and Rescue (BOISAR), responded to the report of a missing hunter in the Lady Slipper Road area, just outside of Corner Brook, about 9 p.m. Thursday.
The hunter, a resident of Corner Brook, had failed to meet up with his two hunting companions at a designated point on Copper Brook Road prior to dark.
A news release notes BOISAR was dispatched about 1:30 a.m. and the missing hunter was located by the search and rescue team. Medical attention was not required.
It was the second such incident was reported on Thursday evening at approximately 9 p.m. after a 23 year old Corner Brook resident failed to meet up with his two hunting companions at a designated point on Copper Lake Road prior to dark. BOISAR was dispatched and at approximately 1:30 a.m.
Earlier this week, BOISAR and a helicopter arranged through Fire and Emergency Services Newfoundland and Labrador, located a hunter Thursday morning who went missing in the Pinchgut Lake area.
The man in that case was located around 9:15 a.m. and was flown to the Trans-Canada Highway where his family was waiting for him.
