Contraband cigarettes seized, man arrested

A 61-year-old man has been charged after the RCMP seized 54 cartons of contraband cigarettes during a traffic stop near Pasadena today.

The arrest was made by the RCMP Roving Traffic Unit and the Customs and Excise Section.

The man faces charges under the Excise Act 2001 and the Provincial Revenue Administration Act. He has been released from custody to appear in court at a later date.

    I have often wondered how the hundreds of drivers driving around that owe 30,000 , 20,000, adding up to a total of about half a million dollars and more and the police dont know about it. they stop a guy with 56 cartons of smokes, worth about a hundred dollars in taxes. unreal.
