Two 16-year-old males were arrested over the weekend in Corner Brook after a 2009 Toyota Camry was discovered in a ditch at 2 a.m. Saturday.
Nobody was found inside the vehicle, which was located in the area of Riverside Drive and the Trans Canada Highway, but Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers reportedly discovered blood at the scene. A search conducted by the K9 unit did not locate anyone.
An investigation into the incident later determined the car had been stolen from a home on West Valley Road in Corner Brook that same day. Another vehicle parked in the driveway appeared to have been struck as an attempt was made to flee the scene of the alleged crimes.
One of the 16-year-old males has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, trespassing, and two counts for court order breaches.
He appeared in youth court Sunday, where he was remanded in police custody. He is scheduled to return to court on Monday.
The other male was charged with possession of property obtained by crime and trespassing. He was released by police and will appear in youth court at a later date.
