In lite of this postivie process about to take place, which all say that is surpose to be good for the long run of our Province. My question is, what are the positives for the people in the long run ? And how long will it take before we see a positive cost effective price of OUR power to come to the people? Yes some have said that we should stop crying about the negatives, but when we see so much that has happened over the years it is hard not to be on ones gurard..... we all want what is best for the province, but if it is only the rich benefiting from this deal, then really how good can it be. Just saying

Government numbers.....strike one. On an incredibly politicicized project...strike two. In the politically toxic, leadershiup deprived, chronically dysfunctional environment of everyday Newfoundland....strike three, you're out!

Just for once I would like to know what the people of Newfoundland and Labrador expect concerning a controlling interest of renewable energy. Why is there so much negative debate every time something positive is about to commence. I know we all have to keep our political leaders on their toes but the constant pounding of a dead moose seems excessive. Newfoundland is on the eve of their renaissance...embrace it. In less than one generation you have transformed your economy from negative to positive. For once take a look at how others in Canada are struggling instead of crying about yourselves and how you are getting screwed all the time.

Manitoban, we elected a majority government and its looks very much like we will get it done to us in spades. The fallout from this flawed project and flawed process will be a burden on NL taxpayers for 50 years. This project is a triumph of big business over the working class who will pay dearly for it.You laugh but aren't Manitoba Hydro experts in delivering flawed and excessively high cost projects?

I will bet dollars to donuts that when we see the figures, we'll all have to be experts in sudoku to figure them out. More smoke and mirrors... nothing will change.

@Worker says approve it now because he wants the work. I sympathize with anyone who wants work and is willing to go after it. But burdening homeowners with the highest electrical rates in Canada (in a province that is supposed to have lots of power) for the next 60 years, and risking the economic gains that we have made from offshore oil, is not the way to go about it.

It doesn't matter what the numbers are because this project is not a Liberal or an NDP project and they would like to get it away to Quebec like they did with the Upper Churchill. You have guys on Twitter winning like a bunch of school girls, if some of them paid their taxes, the cost would not be so high, those guys are the biggest joke from Nfld.

i can't stop laughing, it must be halloween time. getting help from manitoba hydro. YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING, RIGHT ? the NDP government here in manitoba took from manitoba hydro in order to balance its books, in return the government have allowed manitoba hydro to raise its rates to consumers. people should be very cautious with this muskrat falls deal and its cost to the taxpayer/consumers.

Writing in the Chronicle Herald last week, Nova Scotia journalist Ralph Surette said "Muskrat Falls is a grandiose...flawed, project". His prediction was that the project would not be going ahead. I hope he's right but am very much afraid he's wrong.
