An apparent medical emergency is delaying the opening of provincial court in St. John's this morning.

Two ambulances were witnessed arriving almost simultaneously at approximately 9 a.m.

Reports from the scene indicate a member of the public took ill.

A staff member at the court announced multiple times that all proceedings have been delayed. A Sheriff's Officer said it should reopen by approximately 9:30 a.m.

It is not known at this time how the medical emergency took place.
