BANFF, Alta. — For the second year in a row, the Banff Springs Hotel has topped the list of Canada’s most haunted tourist attractions.
An online poll conducted by Flightnetwork.com found most respondents thought the hotel was haunted.
The storied landmark seems to have not just one, but two ghosts.
One is a former bellhop who passed away after announcing his retirement in 1967.
Guests and staff claim to have seen a ghostly man in a uniform on multiple occasions.
The hotel grounds are also said to be haunted by a young bride who died on her wedding day back in the 1930s, after falling down a flight of stairs.
Guests have reported seeing a bride dancing through the halls of the nearly 125-year-old building.
Despite the lingering guests and spooky sounds, staff insist all reported encounters have been friendly.
The HI Ottawa Jail Hostel — a former prison — came second in the Flight Network survey, followed by the Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg and Craigdarroch Castle in Victoria.
