A 19-year-old man was fined $250, placed on probation for a year and will have to perform 25 hours of community service for supplying alcohol to a youth who became ill from drinking.
The probation order contains a number of conditions he must abide by including issuing a formal apology to the family of the youth.
On Sept. 7, the RCMP in Deer Lake responded to a complaint of an ill youth in the area of Wights Road in Deer Lake.
The RCMP says that, upon arrival, it was found that a 14-year-old girl was under the influence of alcohol. As a result, the girl was transported to Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook for observation.
Subsequent to an investigation, the RCMP in Deer Lake located the accused and charged him under the Liquor Control Act for supplying liquor to minors.
On Tuesday, the accused pleaded guilty to the charge.
