Woman charged with assault

A 50-year-old woman was charged with assault and breaches of court orders Tuesday night arising from a report of an assault in the Queen’s Road area of St. John’s.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the victim of the assault received minor injuries. The accused was released from custody to appear at a later date.

Also, Tuesday night, the RNC responded to a report of uttering threats in the Monchy Street area of St. John’s around 8:55 p.m.

Police say upon arrival, the suspect had left the area but was located a short time later. As a result of the investigation a 26-year-old man was charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and breach of court orders.  He was detained at lockup until a court appearance.

Around 11:16 p.m., the RNC also responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the Young Street area.  

A 43-year-old man was detained for impaired driving and refusal of the breathalyzer. He was held in custody until a court appearance.
