As a member of the Air Cadet Squadron in our community about fifteen years ago I became not only familiar with Mr heath but also very fond of the gentleman from a very young age. You always felt honored to be in his presence. I remember year after year during our weekly squadron meeting in early November being stood on the parade square listening to Mr. Heath speak of the importance of the "Poppy Appeal" and what the funds raised were used for and how they were always put to good use. It somewhat made you feel you were doing you own little part to repay our fallen soldiers and veterans for our everyday freedom which is overlooked on a daily basis. Today as I attended our community's remembrance day ceremony I seen Mr. Heath lay a wreath as he has done for so many years and once again I had felt honored to have attended the ceremony along with the local men, women and children. But it has saddened me deeply to think of Mr. Heath at age 97 and his endless hours of dedication to the Legions and Poppy Appeal and the selfish, clueless unappreciative individuals who would disrespect our heroes past and present by feeling the need to support their own "problem" by stealing funds from the most important fundraiser in our country. It is unacceptable in every aspect! Mr. Heath, I look forward to attending many more remembrance day ceremonies with yourself and our other local heros! Thank you for all you do.
