Mothers Against Drunk Driving

There’s a chill in the air, the leaves are pretty much all gone from off their branches and the holiday season is rapidly approaching.

That means it’s Project Red Ribbon season again.

The annual Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) initiative officially launched today and runs right through until the new year.

MADD will be distributing red ribbons for the duration of the holidays, which it asks Canadians to tie on their cars, briefcases and anywhere else that is visible.

The ribbons are a reminder to motorists to never drink and drive.

MADD is a useless organization full of neo-prohibitionist right-wing zealots. They do nothing to stop the real drunk drivers and alcoholics while fighting for laws that would make criminals out of those of us who like to have a glass of wine with our dinner.

I used to give generously to MADD, but then they went quiet when Jack Tobin was charged.
