Charges have been laid in Edmonton in relation to the death of 33-year-old Dale Maloney from Newfoundland.
Maloney, originally from St. John’s, was shot to death outside an Edmonton restaurant on Aug. 13.
Two men have been charged with his murder.
The Edmonton Police Service have already arrested Christian Iyamuremye, 23, and charged him with second degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of an offence.
Bicco Saidi, 27, has also been charged with second degree murder. He is still at large and a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Maloney’s family today expressed relief at the news of the development.
In it, they said, “we extend our heartfelt thanks to the Edmonton police for keeping their focus on the investigation and charging these individuals, as well as to all the witnesses who came forward, without which the investigation could not have advanced. We especially want to thank those first responders and the doctors and nurses who tried so hard to save Dale.”
