Dump truck overturns off Outer Ring Road

Traffic is slowed down on the Outer Ring Road as a result of a single-vehicle that occurred around 4 p.m.

A dump truck, travelling in the west-bound lane near the Paradise exit, left the road, taking out about 300 feet of guard rail and overturned in a ditch.

The driver has been taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

A tractor is currently on the scene trying to upright the vehicle.

I would hope ROADRUNNER is not comparing their comment to the factors behind the actual cause of the story. Can't see how racing could be suggested. How does one control such a vehicle once the front tire unfortunately blows out. There's far more than dump trucks low level flying on the ORR, even when conditions are not favorable.

I've been warning about the dump truck races on the ORR for over a year now. It's time for police to step up patrols; the speed is out of control. With dump trucks doing 120-140 km/hr. more than guardrails are going to give!
