Corner Brook RCMP are continuing an investigation into a single-vehicle collision in the west-bound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway Wednesday around 4 p.m.

According to police, the initial investigation determined the lone occupant and female driver was driving west near Steady Brook and struck the right gravel shoulder before skidding across two lanes and into the median.

The woman, a resident of Pasadena, was not injured in the collision but was arrested for suspected drug impairment.

The RCMP said in a news release, with  the assistance of a drug recognition expert from Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, the woman was given a battery of tests before being released by the RCMP.  The driver has currently been charged with operating a motor vehicle without a driver's licence.

Police say further charges are pending.

Also Wednesday, around 1:30 p.m., Corner Brook RCMP arrested a man from Irishtown for allegedly being involved in disturbances at two residences.  He was charged with uttering threats and mischief and was held in custody overnight.

A bail hearing was scheduled for today in Corner Brook provincial court.
