RCMP in Happy Valley-Goose Bay arrested a 23-year-old woman from the community early this morning for impaired driving.

According to police, officers on patrol observed a vehicle being driven erratically and conducted a traffic stop. Further investigation revealed that the driver had a blood alcohol level close to three times the legal limit.

The woman now faces charges of impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. She is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Dec. 21.

The arresting RCMP officer should receive a commendation. Drinking and driving in the "Big Land ' is the rule rather than the exception because the RCMP don't have the resources to do the job and the locals take advantage of that. I lived in Happy Valley-Goose Bay for 7 years and it had the only golf course I know of, where you can take a case of beer with you and consume it on the course . At no time did I ever see an RCMP vehicle anywhere near the golf club even though many golfers were loaded to the gills when they left the club and drove away in their vehicles.

I guess you have never been on any other golf courses then! What a knuckle head!
