RCMP officer charged with domestic violence

An off-duty RCMP officer was charged with assault and uttering threats Thursday night in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

The 13-year veteran of the police force was charged in connection with a domestic dispute and was held in custody until a court appearance today.

The RCMP Major Crime Section from St. John's will be assisting with the ongoing investigation.

The identity of the RCMP officer is being withheld at this time to protect the identity of the victim.

    He's a cop. He'll get a peace bond and continue his life as a cop, whereas you or I would serve at least a month for this set of offences (not to mention we'd lose everything we had). No story here

    cops investigating cops, that just like putting the cart before the horse. he may have been charged under our mickey mouse justice system but convicting him, thats a horse of a different colour.

    he's only human,tempers flair all the time he just got caught but you know when ya wears a badge you should be able to control your anger seeing that he's a roll model for the younger generation..how do we expect them to control thier anger if the officers can't control thiers..
