Biased, leading article title. Muskrat was voted on during the last provincial election because the opposition parties made it their main issue. They lost. Severely

I suspect that other than the politions and the 2041 and a few with interests in tne area such as cabin owners, the rest were just people showing up to see what was going on , people with nothing to do who say lets drop by and see how many are there of course then they are countede as being intertested, but 100 out of population of over 500,000 for island and 0ver 200,000 for The city and surrounding area. Not many for Sunday afternoon with the sun shining. Reminds me of the govt pensioners rally, no one interested and politions know it, except the opposition who will show up and promise you the moon since they don't have to produce

This project was sanctioned behind closed doors well over a year ago. Everything else is politics led by a third rate leader whose greatest strength is the weaknesses of the other political leaders. There is a reason the voter turnout in the last general Election was the lowest in our history: none of the choices were good enough so we must collectively live with the outcome.

Most of those there were friends and family of the organizers, hippys, and the bunch who lived in tents at Hr. side park. They keep asking for the PUB, yet say that the MHI report is biased?? Well someone should tell them that it was the PUB who took 2 million dollars of taxpayer money, 9 months and one extension, and it was the PUB who searched out and found MHI...not government. In an attempt to save us a few bucks the gov. said let's go with MHI, because the PUB thought they were unbiased, and would give a good independant review. Well MHI thinks we will need the power, and the project is more than 2 billion dollars cheaper than the nearest alternative. The PUB chose MHI....so if we have the PUB look at the project again does that mean that they will go to MHI again? Why don't we save some time and money and just send the PUB the report they just did...the second report they did saying the project was good. Third times a charm eh' naysayers...LOL

A bureaucrat friend of mine told me that this miniscule public display is the reason why the Government of Newfoundland thinks it can do whatever it wants, whether it is unethical or wrong. The politicians think that nobody in Newfoundland and Labrador cares or is smart enough to have an opinion about what their Government is up to. The politicians and bureaucrats think that the stupid and apathetic People are not interested in what happens to their Province. I think that the fact that 100 people took the time and effort to come out to such a gathering to express their opinion is a positive sign and shows that the so called "silent majority" is not stupid or apathetic. The People are taking an interest and is paying attention to what the Government of Newfoundland and its politically well connected cronies are doing in secret to feather their financial nests at the taxpayers expense. Hopefully, the People will demand a public referendum and open, honest and transparent debate and disclosure from the Government of Newfoundland regarding the Muskrat Falls project and every other project or policy the Government and its hacks are conjuring up behind closed doors!
