The City of St. John’s announced today that Deputy Mayor Shannie Duff underwent emergency surgery last week and is now recovering at home.

According to the press release Duff had surgery for a perforated bowel.

She stated that she’s already on the road to recovery.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the Health Sciences Centre for the wonderful care I received while in hospital,” she wrote.

“I would also like to thank residents for their warm wishes during this time. All of the prayers and kind thoughts I have received will certainly aid in my recovery.”

Duff anticipates she’ll be able to ease herself back to work in early December.
