Two men were arrested Tuesday morning on the Trans Canada Highway near Stephenville after the RCMP seized two kilograms of cocaine from a vehicle.

The vehicle, which had an Alberta licence plate, was pulled over about 10:30 a.m. by members of the RCMP Traffic Services West.

A 31-year-old man from Newfoundland and a 25-year-old man from Alberta were charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Both have been remanded in custody until their next court appearance on Friday.
