The Telegram website offers only a sample of the stories our reporters, editors and photographers work hard to get to the public every day.

Thursday’s full edition of The Telegram, on the other hand, contains much, much more, from news to opinion to our expanded Community section.

• An elderly married couple died Wednesday in a house fire on Neck Road in Coley’s Point.

The remains of the two victims were removed from the home shortly after 4 p.m., two hours after members of the Bay Roberts Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene. The RCMP said local paramedics attempted to revive the couple.

• Premier Kathy Dunderdale dismissed the findings of a poll conducted for NTV which found that a majority of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians want to see the Public Utilities Board (PUB) do a full study of the Muskrat Falls project.

• Police are not optimistic pending toxicology results will confirm that so-called “date rape drugs” were used in a series of sexual assaults in downtown St. John’s. “We’re not sure if it will provide hard evidence about what was used,” said Const. Steve Curnew of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s media relations office.
