Man charged with thefts from vehicles back in court

Lee Richard Chaytor, 25, who is charged with thefts from motor vehicles in the Conception Bay South area, had his case set over to Jan. 11 when it was called in provincial court in St. John’s today.

Chaytor is facing 14 charges including theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property and breaches of court orders.

At approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday, the RNC received a complaint from the area of Wisemans Lane reporting that there was a suspicious male checking vehicles in that area.

Following a brief investigation and search of the area, officers located and arrested Chaytor.

The RNC is continuing to investigate these thefts and encourages vehicle owners in the immediate area to contact police if they have had their vehicle gone through.

The RNC would like to remind the public not to leave valuables in their vehicles, and if you must, to keep them out of view. Motorist should also keep their vehicles locked at all times to help prevent this type of crime from happening.
