The Telegram website offers only a sample of the stories our reporters, editors and photographers work hard to get to the public every day.

Monday’s full edition of The Telegram, on the other hand, contains much, much more, from news to opinion to our expanded Sports section.

• Newfoundland and Labrador and Nalcor Oil and Gas has taken on a collection of projects aimed at piquing the curiosity of multinational oil companies and encourage more drilling for oil and gas offshore. The projects, costing more than $20 million by the end of 2013, are gathering and collating data from early, pre-drilling exploration work.

• An archeologist with strong ties to Memorial University is leading the charge down a path of research that could rewrite North America’s history books. Patricia (Pat) Sutherland — an adjunct research professor at both Carleton and Memorial Universities — believes she’s drawn enough evidence from different sources to conclude with some certainty the Norse and the Dorset were trading partners for upwards of several hundred years.

• According to Downtown St. John’s an estimated 60,000 turned out for the parade. Many showed their Christmas spirit by wearing elf and Santa hats, bells, face paint and Christmas themed clothing of every make and description. Some people even decorated their dogs.
