Toronto police say man charged in theft of toys, donations from Salvation Army

TORONTO — Toronto police say a man has been charged in the alleged theft of thousands of toys and donations from the Salvation Army.

Investigators made the announcement in a tweet this morning, saying more details will be released at a news conference at police headquarters at 1:30 p.m.

On Friday, officers recovered a massive cache of toys and donated goods they said were stolen from one of the charity’s warehouses.

They say some 146 skids stacked with toys, baby cribs, strollers and other items were found in a commercial warehouse in Brampton, northwest of the city.

It’s alleged up to 100,000 items worth some $2 million were stolen from the Salvation Army’s facility in north-end Toronto over nearly two years.

Police have said they’ll return the goods once they’ve finished taking an inventory.

I don't understand why it took so long for this organization to realize such a high volume of items were stolen, as well as the monetary donations, which were humungous also. Isn't anyone doing inventory or accounting on a regular basis? As to tthe person/persons doing this, you should be utterly ashamed of yourselves because the Salvation Army does outstanding work helping others all year round.

was this theft an inside job? it certainly looks that way. why isn't the mans name not being released, or are there still more crooks within this organization?
