The Telegram website offers only a sample of the stories our reporters, editors and photographers work hard to get to the public every day.

Tuesday’s full edition of The Telegram, on the other hand, contains much, much more, from news to opinion to our expanded Family section.

• The Crown is expected to reveal this week what happens next in the case of a suspected murderer.

Raymond Gerald Newman — charged in the Jan. 21, 2007 stabbing death of his estranged wife, Chrissy Predham-Newman — will be back in Newfoundland Supreme Court in St. John’s Wednesday, and indications are there could be a significant development in the case.

• The Lower Churchill hydro project is being discussed in Federal Court in Ottawa this week, as a legal case launched before the project was released from environmental assessment is being heard.

The hearing in the case began Monday and is scheduled to continue through Wednesday.

• At one point, as he watched his 88-year-old mother writhing in pain, Chris Vardy seriously considered the option of amputating her arm just to stop the pain it was causing her.

But even that drastic measure would not have completely soothed her suffering, so it was discounted.
