Sgt. Dale Foote with the Port aux Basques RCMP said the driver was released from hospital on Tuesday with only minor injuries.

Another driver called the accident in to RCMP from a cell phone.

The man had to be cut from his truck with the Jaws of Life by members of the Port aux Basques Volunteer Fire Department.

Sgt. Foote said rescue crews first had to cut through the trailer to get to the truck. The driver was awake and responding to the crews the entire time.

The driver told police he lost control of the truck while coming down the large hill which leads into South Branch and the trailer jackknifed.

Road conditions were slippery at the time of the accident, according to Sgt. Foote.
