An incident at the Bay Bulls Big Pond Water Treatment Plant today has suspended water production at the site and injured a worker.
A spokeswoman for the City of St. John’s could not confirm the nature of the incident, but said it did require the attention of the St. John’s Regional Fire Department.
Residents have been asked to limit water usage to emergencies only.
The employee of a company contracted to work at the plant was injured and later taken to hospital.
It is not known when production at the plant will resume. The city spokeswoman said the incident remains under investigation and that a further update is expected before the end of the day.
The plant serves St. John’s, Mount Pearl, Conception Bay South, Paradise, and Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s.
