Both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Pitts Memorial Drive are closed to traffic following multiple collisions.

A pair of tow trucks are reportedly in the process of removing vehicles from the area, which is located between Ruth Avenue in Mount Pearl and ramps leading to the Outer Ring Road.

At least two people have been sent to hospital to be treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary advises further updates will be provided once the road is re-opened.

(Earlier story)

The eastbound lane of Pitts Memorial Drive west of the Ruth Avenue exit is closed to traffic after a two-vehicle collision, and westbound traffic is moving slowly.

Shortly before 6 p.m. a vehicle rolled over in the median, striking another vehicle in the process. Police, firefighters and paramedics were on the scene.

Two people were taken to hospital with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Just when I've got texting down pat; steering with my knees; driving at 140 km with radio on blast, dog's head out the window...along comes the snow!
