UPDATE: RNC seeking witnesses to armed robbery

The RNC is requesting the assistance of the general public in identifying the person responsible for an armed robbery at Walsh’s Convenience on St. Clare Avenue in St. John’s Sunday morning.

About 11:30 a.m. Sunday, RNC officers from patrol services, K9 and criminal investigation division responded the business.

The male suspect had entered the store and demanded cash before fleeing the scene. There were no injuries sustained during the incident.

The male suspect is described as approximately six feet tall, and at the time of the incident was wearing black track pants with blue on the bottom, a black jacket with the hood up and had his face concealed by a mask.

It is believed the male casually left the scene on foot and headed west on Cashin Avenue. There were a number of vehicles on the road and people may have seen the suspect but did not realize it at the time.

The RNC General Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate and is seeking the assistance of the general public and anyone who may have information in relation to this crime is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). The RNC is investigating an armed robbery that occurred 11:30 a.m. Sunday at a convenience store on St. Clares Ave. in St. John’s.

A quantity of cash was taken by the male suspect.

RNC police dog services and assisted in the investigation which is still ongoing.
