Muskrat Falls dominated debate in the province’s legislature today as MHAs took their first opportunity to debate the federal loan guarantee announcement on Friday in Labrador by Prime Minster Stephen Harper.

The term sheet which forms the basis of the guarantee has not been publicly released, but Natural Resources Minister Jerome Kennedy said it will be made public.

Liberal Leader Dwight Ball focused his questions on the details of the loan guarantee and whether Nova Scotia partner Emera can scuttle things by pulling out any time before 2014.

New Democrat Leader Lorraine Michael also focused on Muskrat Falls, pressing the government to send the project back to the province's Public Utilities Board.

More details in Tuesday’s full edition of The Telegram.

If God Almighty came down in all his glory and said Muskrat Falls was the perfect idea you naysayers would still find something to complain about. You're like a gaggle of old ladies that are never pleased with anything! Just give the naysayers the middle finger and build it already!

I also would like to know why the media keeps referring to this term sheet as the loan guarantee, it's not the guarantee, it's the bait. I hope Ms. Dunderdale doesn't go ahead and sanction this project and put all Newfoundlanders in a position were they won't be able to afford to live here. Newfoundlander's are a special kind of people and we must speak out about this arrogance of a government. Why should they decide who lives in this province, and basically that is what it's going to boil down to. I really hope I don't see that day.

Why do you call it --- "the guarantee"? There is no guarantee. Merely a term sheet, from which a guarantee may or may not emerge. What is does is allow NS/Emera to put a knife to the throat of NL/Nalcor. A repeat of the Upper Churchill process.

Alas, all is lost it would seem! Perhaps it is time you left for a more financially stable place..........but where would you go? Your ever ongoing rants demonstrate a total lack of understanding and respect for the demoncratic system this province and country adopted over 100 years ago. But there are other systems; which one would you suggest? Perhaps the USA, or Greece, or perhaps Russia? Compared to any other country in the world; Canada and Canadians do very well. In its rather short history Canada has already built many asset based projects; St. Lawrence Seaway, the Canadian railway, the Confederation Bridge and now to be added to the list will be the Muskrat Falls Development. All because great leaders had what it takes to make a dream a reality. I fully respect your right to express your opinion but somewhere within that right is a huge responsibility to not distort the truth.

Don, when the truth is out, they won't even be able to ID the PC party from its dental records.
