The Deer Lake RCMP is investigating a number of vehicle break-ins that occurred within the town over the last three days.

A number of personal items and money have gone missing from the vehicles targeted by unknown individuals

The RCMP is asking the public to ensure that they lock their vehicles at all times, regardless of where their vehicles are parked.

The Deer Lake RCMP would like citizens of Deer Lake to call the RCMP at 635-2173 if they see anything suspicious or call Crime Stoppers if they have any information on the thefts from vehicles within the Deer Lake RCMP jurisdiction.

Leave nothing of value in your car and leave your doors unlocked. That's my advice. So what if they get a CD or a bit of spare change. That is nothing compared to the price of replacing glass or the cost of repairing a door that has been pried open. With $500. deductibles it just makes sense unless Insurance companies are willing to waive it for car breakins???

It's not very smart to lock the doors either, if they see something they want, they are getting it! Smashing a window is nothing to these people!
