A 65-year-old Placentia woman is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle about 7 p.m. Thursday in the town.

The RCMP says the woman was struck by a south-bound vehicle while she was walking on Prince William Drive in front of the court house in Placentia.

The woman was taken to hospital in Placentia with serious injuries. She was later transferred to the Health Sciences Center in St. John’s.

The RCMP says charges are not expected but police are requesting anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call the Placenta RCMP at (709)227-2000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
