The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary announced today the promotion of Stephanie Motty as sergeant at the Labrador City detachment.

The RNC hosted a promotional ceremony at the former School for the Deaf on Topsail Road in St. John’s today.

Motty, currently stationed in Labrador City, is the first female to be promoted to the position of sergeant at the Labrador City detachment.

Motty started with the RNC in June 2002 and since that time has worked in various areas of the organization. In her 10 years with the RNC, Motty has spent time as a patrol officer and as a member of the Criminal Investigative Division (CID). In CID she divided her time as a member of the Child Assault and Sexual Assault Unit (CASA) and the Major Crime Unit.
