Hopedale men charged with assault

Two men from the Labrador community of Hopedale have been charged with assault following separate incidents over the weekend.

On Saturday, Hopedale RCMP responded to call involving a woman who alleged her brother had assaulted her. A 24-year-old has been charged with assault, breach of probation, and breach of an undertaking.

Police report that the man had been released on an undertaking last Monday following a separate incident.

That same Saturday, police responded to a complaint from a woman who accused her boyfriend of assaulting her. A 42-year-old was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, breach of an undertaking, and breach of probation.

Both men were remanded in custody for bail hearings set to take place on Monday.
