A man arrested following a daylight stabbing at a park in downtown St. John's last summer has pleaded guilty to all charges against him.
James William Rogers appeared via videolink from Her Majesty's Penitentiary when his case was called in provincial court in St. John's today.
His lawyer Phil Warren told Judge James Walsh that his client is pleading guilty to charges of aggravated assault, possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, breach of probation and two counts of breaching an undertaking.
The charges were laid in relation to an incident that happened Aug. 10. Rogers was said to have stabbed a man near Harbourside Park on Water Street. The man, who was profusely bleeding, managed to flag down an ambulance on Water Street and was taken to hospital. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police spotted Rogers minutes later on Harbour Drive and, in a dramatic arrest, took him into custody.
Warren said Rogers is also pleading guilty to robbery and breaching a court order, which were laid following a holdup at Moo Moo's ice cream store in April.
Warren requested that a pre-sentence report be prepared for sentencing, which is scheduled for Jan. 22.
