Traytown man arrested twice in one month for drunk driving

Police in central Newfoundland have arrested a man for the second time in one month for drunk driving.

A 36-year-old from Traytown was stopped by New Wes Valley RCMP on Wednesday and arrested for allegedly driving while impaired. After identifying the man, it was determined Glovertown RCMP previously arrested him on Nov. 12 for the same crime.

Police say the man owes $2,775.64 in traffic fines. He is due to appear in Gander provincial court Thursday morning.

These losers will continue to drive drunk because the punishments are too soft and/or non existent. Time to get tough with drunk drivers before another innocent person is killed. If a drunk driving charge resulted in 4 or 5 years in a federal pen,something tells me these fools would wise up fast. All they get now is a lecture and a weeks driving suspension and are then back on the road again no worse for wear.
