The RCMP seized 32 marijuana plants from a home on North Main Street in Deer Lake this evening, along with some packaged marijuana.

According to a news release from the RCMP, officers from the Deer Lake detachment conducted a search and found plants, at various tages of growth, being grown in the bedroom.

A 49-year-old Deer Lake man was arrested and later let go on an undertaking. A court date for the man is set in Corner Brook for March 5.

Drunk drivers, drivers texting (virtually the same thing as impaired), meth, cocaine, Oxycontin ... and they are focusing their attention on something as harmless as weed? Really? While I realize that marijuana is still illegal for most to grow and possess, surely the RCMP have better things to be doing. The majority of Canadians want weed to be legalized anyway, how about focusing more on the things that are actually a danger in our communities?

"Great use of tax dollars, another dangerous criminal of the street" (end sarcasm) Only thing missing from the press release is the inflated street value quote.
