The Telegram website offers only a sample of the stories our reporters, editors and photographers work hard to get to the public every day.

Friday’s full edition of The Telegram, on the other hand, contains much, much more, from news to opinion to our expanded Arts & Entertainment section.

• When the Anderson family wakes up these days, the aftermath of a fire that destroyed their barn — killing seven horses and three goats — is readily apparent. “My wife and myself and my children, when we get up, first thing we smell is still the charred remains and the smell of smoke,” said Dr. Kevin Anderson, a large-animal veterinarian who co-owns the property with his wife.

“The first 48 hours, I can’t even recall half of what went on,” said Anderson. “It’s obviously a big loss.”

• When Finance Minister Tom Marshall revealed that lower-than-expected oil revenue will mean a $725-million deficit this year, he didn’t mince words about public-sector unions. “When we had increases in revenues, that put us in a position that we could provide employees with very generous wage increases,” he said. “At a time when revenues will drop, then obviously our fiscal ability will be constrained.”

• A man who shot and stabbed another man in the midst of a drug deal is looking at some major time behind bars.

Just how long James Shawn Halleran will be in jail will be decided by a judge next month.
