Last night the RCMP on Bell Island set up some early holiday traffic checkpoints to ensure drivers were following the rules of the road.

Along with several warnings given to drivers, and directions to have minor things taken care of, one driver was charged with impaired driving.

According to an RCMP news release, the 44-year-old man has been released from police custody and is expected to appear in court in the new year.
