The Telegram website offers only a sample of the stories our reporters, editors and photographers work hard to get to the public every day.

Friday’s full edition of The Telegram, on the other hand, contains much, much more, from news to opinion to our expanded Arts & Entertainment section.

• At Eddy’s Restaurant in South Brook, soup is boiled, french fries crisped and pot after pot of coffee dripped for the regulars. This week, all of the cooking and brewing has been done using bottled water.

“Oh my glory to the world! We’ve went through hundreds of litres,” restaurant owner Wallace McKay told The Telegram.

Whether for stocks, gravies or sauces, he said, True North bottled water has been used.

• A man without a driver’s licence who was caught operating a snowplow in the parking lot of a junior high school has received a 90-day jail sentence.

Craig William Lynch, 37, will serve an intermittent sentence on weekends beginning Dec. 28. He is receiving 36 days’ credit for time served.

• All the way from Malaysia, Gale Dearn is sending out a desperate plea to find her missing cat, Nelly.

“What a great story it would be for my little baby to be found,” Dearn, a native Newfoundlander, said in an email from Malaysia.

Nelly and the search for her has inspired a Facebook group, “Find Nelly,” that’s even reunited other pets with their owners and strung together a group of strangers in the search for the black cat.
