Gander-Lewisporte RCMP responds to variety of calls

The RCMP had a busy day Thursday in the Gander-Lewisporte district, according to a news release, responding to a variety of calls . Thos calls included nine about assault, seven calls about mischief, two calls about theft and one fire-related call.

The Lewisporte detachment was called to the scene of an ATV-pedestrian accident in Norris Arm, which is still under investigation. A 49-year-old man involved in the accident has died as a result of his injuries. Charges are pending.

In Gander, officers were called to the Wal-Mart parking lot, where a truck backed out and hit a shopping cart with a child in it. The child was not injured and the incident is still under investigation.

Glovertown officers searched until early morning Thursday, when it was deemed too dark, for a hunter who had gone missing in the Northwest Arm area. At dawn, they continued their search, and the hunter was found at 11:40 a.m.
