I don't think the politicians are spineless and gutless. Rather, I applaud the government for this decision, because I think it is a great decision. Yes, P. Earle and the fishery workers likely disagree, and I understand why. However, I want the fishery to die a quick death so that the fishery workers will not be able to qualify for annual EI. I have nothing against the fishery except for the fact that my EI payments are given to the same people every year! that is not what EI is for, and I believe that when the fishery dies, the EI abuse will stop. So for those reasons and those reasons alone, I am happy that raw fish is being exported because it prevents a NL fisherman from qualifying for the annual cycle of EI abuse. I voted for this government and I am please with this decision. This is democracy at its finest.....the interests of the majority are being put before the interests of the fishermen. I wouldn't have it any other way.

  What about fishermen in other provinces? What about farm workers and their employers, forestry workers, the tourism industry and yes even factory workers who have downtime? The list is even longer. A business man huh?

Just a trick, from the gutless cowards and spineless sheep in our government, to make many people think something wonderful has changed in the policies that govern the operation of our Fishery. The bulk of the resource will be given to, "foreign processing", whereby the OCI elate will maximize their profit. All this will be in vain as in a few short months the little of the stock that is left will be dissimated. What the government has done here may be understood if an example is used in medical terms,........ it would be like having a very sick family member with cancer and the doctor announces late on Friday evening ..."we now have a new cancer treatment for the patient and will start it right away"!! Of course 90% of the family thinks it's wonderful, because there's new hope their love one will be cured. But this is not the case because the doctor didn't tell the whole truth about the new treatment...which is that it is just a new treatment and not a cure that will kill the cancer, and save the life of the patient. In truth the new treatment will just prolong the duration time before the patient dies. The fact of this will be proven in the fishery in a very short time. p earle

With the plant owners sitting in on this announcement you can bet it will be bad news for NL.This quota should not be shipped ouit of NL for processing elsewhere.
