ATV DODGER apparently you haven't driven around much of the province. Placentia is by no means unique to the type of activities you mention.

I live in the New Pennywell Road area of the city and there are dirt bikes and ATV's on the road regularly in this area and once we get a bit of snow, there will be snowmobiles on the road as well. And it is only a matter of time before some poor unsuspecting law-abiding driver slams into one of these people and the driver ends up in serious condition in the hospital or dead. Calling the RNC doesn't prompt any response - perhaps an hour or two after they have finished their joy rides, but not when these dangerous people are on the roads. And the majority do not wear helmets, have no insurance or registration, and don't give a damn anyway. What will the outcome be - they won't take away their welfare checks!!!

So easy to prevent .... hide the keys. If they can start it without keys, sell the bike. Parents need to see what their kids are doing.

And he's off to a great start.....Newfoundland: first, you learn to drive illegally. Once you get the hang of that, then add reckless and irresponsibly. Soon after, you learn to drive drunk. Finally, you put it all together....illegally, irresponsibly and drunk. And then you're a Newfoundland man, my son!

I got a tip for ya, young feller....take your dirt bike to Placentia; out there, they drive ATV's, Quads, 3-wheelers, dirt bikes, and even skidoos, when it snows...on all the main roads, highways and walking trails, all over the area from Da Harbour to Shaw's Lane and everywhere inbetween. They have no cops out there or civic leaders. You're free to drive anything, anywhere; cut wood where you like; litter at will; and, kill anything that moves. It's expempt from any rules, regulations or law and order; I suspect it's unique and doesn't go on anywhere else in the province.
