St. John's city staff has decided to postpone tonight's fireworks display at Quidi Vidi Lake due to high winds. The wick will now be lit Tuesday night at 8 p.m.

Planning to ring in 2013 with a bang? Send us your photos of the city’s fireworks display at Quidi Vidi Lake in St. John’s, or anywhere else in the province for that matter. We’ll print the best in our full edition of The Telegram and online at thetelegram.com.     And I was sooooo looking forward to the 8 minutes of "fireworks" being put off by the Oldest City in North America and there was actually a rumor going around, that because we are the first to ring in the new year, the "fireworks" were actually going to last 10 minutes!! Oh Myyyy!!!

    If you're going to promote taking photos of fireworks to publish for prizes, please emphasize that it be done safely.
