House fire in St. Philip’s causes significant damage

An early morning house fire in St. Philip’s caused significant damage to the property according to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.

In its overnight report, police said the fire was reported shortly after 3 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Members of the Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze on Broad Cove Road.

Members of the RNC’s arson section were due to continue their investigation Tuesday morning.
