The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary charged a male and a female for impaired driving in relation to separate incidents that took place as the world entered a new calander year.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to an incident where a vehicle had flipped onto its roof. No injuries were reported, but a 21-year-old woman was charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired and operation of a motor vehicle while exceeding the legal blood-alcohol limit.

Almost three hours into 2013, the RNC responded to a tip from a concerned resident of St. John’s about a possible impaired driver. Police later stopped a vehicle in the area of Frecker Drive.

A 26-year-old male was charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired and operation of a motor vehicle while exceeding the legal blood-alcohol limit.

Both of the accused have been released to attend court at a later date.

"The World" did not enter a new calender year, Western Society (mostly) did. There should be some basic considerations of human constructed events when writing an article; clearly this is one about the RNC so no real journalist is at stake.
