Man charged with attempted break and entry

A 37-year-old man has been charged with attempted break and entry, possession of break-in instruments and breach of a court order in connection with an incident early this morning in Corner Brook.

Members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary street patrol unit responded to an alarm at a business in the Windsor Street area around 12:30 a.m. this morning.

Police say there was evidence of attempted forced entry into the business but no one was found at the scene.

Around 2:15 a.m., officers came upon a suspicious vehicle in the Windsor Street area. Further investigation by the officers led to the arrest of the driver.

The man was held in custody for a court appearance in Corner Brook provincial court sometime today.
