Flu-like illness prompts more visitation restrictions in central Newfoundland

North Haven Manor in Lewisporte has been added to the list of facilities in central Newfoundland implementing full visitation restrictions until further notice due to influenza-like illness.

Central Health said in a news release today "absolutely no visitors" are permitted while this restriction is in place.

"Family members who have any questions or concerns regarding their loved ones should contact the facility where their loved one resides and ask to speak with the nurse in charge," the health authority said.

Fact number 1: I dearly love my parents. Fact number 2: They reside in a personal care home and love it there. Fact number 3: I live in the same town as that home. Fact number 4: I haven't seen them in over a week. Why? I'm home. Sick with a virus. I would never subject them to my illness. I wouldn't wish it on an enemy, the way I feel right now. Fact number 5: My parents love me for respecting them. Fact number 6: If your loved ones know you are sick, they will respect YOU for staying away... and appreciate it.
