UPDATE: Three people injured in two-vehicle accident

Three people were taken to hospital following a serious motor vehicle collision at the intersection of the Robert E. Howlett Highway and the main road in the Goulds area of St. John’s Jan. 4, 2013. Injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Three people have been taken to hospital following a serious motor vehicle collision at the intersection of the Robert E. Howlett Highway and the main road in the Goulds area of St. John’s.

A pickup collided with a SUV at the intersection causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

The driver and a passenger in the SUV were sent to hospital, as well as the driver of the pickup. Injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Extrication tools had to be used to free the driver of the SUV as the front-end of that vehicle was demolished.

The RNC, ambulances and the St. John’s Regional Fire Department are on the scene.

Traffic is proceeding slowly in both directions as it is being diverted through the intersection.

Emergency personnel are on the scene of a multiple-vehicle accident in the area of the Gould’s Bypass Road.

The extent of injuries are unknown at this time.
