Woman claims firecracker landed in her lap

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is investigating a mischief complaint, stemming from an incident in the Churchill Square area of St. John’s, Thursday.

Police say around 12:45 p.m., RNC patrol officers responded to a complaint in which a woman reported she was sitting in her vehicle when a firecracker landed in her lap.

The RNC said the victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police say a suspect has been identified and an investigation into this incident is ongoing. The RNC would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 222-TIPS (8477). People can also provide information anonymously on the N.L. Crime Stoppers website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.

    I also had a firecracker in my lap on New Years. It was fun. I exploded.

    "Non-life threatening injuries" .... The implication is that fire crackers can be life-threatening. I have to go now and safely store my hammers, saws, knives etc.
