A man in Corner Brook is facing charges for impaired driving as the result of a call made to police by a resident of the community.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said it received the tip about a possible impaired driver at 1:35 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle was spotted leaving the parking lot of Regent Square in Corner Brook.

The RNC’s K-9 unit later located the suspected vehicle on Curling Street. Following a traffic stop, police arrested a 48-year-old man and charged him with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired and operation of a motor vehicle while exceeding the legal blood-alcohol limit. He also received a 90-day driving suspension.

The accused is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Corner Brook on March 5 at 9:30 a.m.
