A car struck and killed a moose on the Trans Canada Highway near Paddy’s Pond early Sunday evening.
According to the RCMP, the car hit the animal after it changed lanes to avoid hitting another vehicle that was slowing down in order to avoid hitting the same moose. The car landed in a ditch after it hit the moose.
The driver and passenger were sent to hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic was slowed but still moving in the area as the scene was cleared.
Again inattenative driving, most likely driving to close to the vehicle in front and likely speed was a factor. But again its the fault of the moose, not the driver. Remember last week on the west coast when drivers were driving over cones placed at an accident scene endangering the lives of accident investigvator, just so they could get a picture or a better look. I guess in that case it was the cones that were at fault, not the drivers. Just my opinion for what its worth
Glad to see the passengers were not seriously hurt but from what was described here if the person driving the veichle probably had not been too close to the car ahead it might not have not had to change lanes to avoid hitting the car ahead of it. People need to stay out of the rear ends of other peoples cars when driving because if you don't this is what happens or you hit that car slowing down who are their slamming their brakes to stop for something .
